This series consists of checkbooks, which contain information that is similar to the records titled "Deposit books." The main difference between the two series is that the checkbook is a record of all deposits and withdrawals that were made by check. Included are the date on which the deposits or withdrawals were recorded, the check numbers, the names of individuals, firms, out-of-state banks or companies that are making the financial transactions, the names of the other Branch Banks in which deposits or withdrawals were made, and the amount of each transaction. Also included is a record of the amount credited to the Treasury of the State of Alabama for interest earned on the sale of the 16th section of land, the name of the county in which the land was sold, and the amount of interest earned. The checkbooks also contain an itemization of all current expenses, record of partial payments, notes in transition, discounts received and other financial information. During the early development of the Branch Banks the information was recorded daily, but upon the liquidation of the State Bank and its Branches, the information was recorded monthly. The amount is totaled at the end of each day or month.
